We as an organization and Ajata as a person has another feather in our cap! Yes, she is the first female not only from our organization but also in Ghana to gain an athletic scholarship through basketball to study in the USA.

Ajata, some years back was out on the first HCI scholarship and since then we have been following her success carefully both off and on the court.

While at the Aggrey Memorial High School, she won multiple regional championship with the school, crowning it with the ultimate in her senior year by winning the National Championship, girls division.

At one time she was also nominated as high school player of the year along with her team mate who won the nomination.

After completing high school she worked with our partner, City of Refuge Ministries in teaching the kids basketball and physical education training.

Jake Sullivan of Acts 2 Collective paid a usual visit to Cape Coast and noticed the hard work of Ajata off and on the court and was impressed. He then recommended her for the athletic scholarship and she was accepted by the Graceland University in Iowa State.

We are very excited for this accomplishment and we believe that this will go a long way in the growth of female basketball in Ghana.

Stay tuned for more updates as it come regarding her studies and basketball over the next months.
