It was a great opportunity for our young athletes in Ghana to be able to learn first hand from David West this gone Tuesday. Fundamental basketball skills as well as leadership abilities to help them on and off the court.
Once again, Hoops Care members showed. It was in similar camp by David West which give opportunities for two of our boys, Anthony and Fifi. Both are current in school in the USA and excelling in their classes and on the court.
This year camp was dubbed, ALL AFRICA ACCESS BASKETBALL and the supervisors were:
DAVID WEST( WARRIORS)
ANTHONY TJ WARREN JNR(PHEONIC SUNS)
The campers were taken through various drills which included:
STATIC WARM UP
HOW TO LAY UP
ONE HAND PASSING DRILL WITH TWO BALLS
SWING LOW SWING HIGH
HOW TO SHOOT
HOW TO SIT ON DEFENSE
Francis Wilson Mensah, a member of Hoops Care when asked about his experience said,
I was selected among the eight tall boys to 4×4 with David West himself coaching us. We played for 30mins without resting and it was very terrific exciting. He taughts us how to screen, pick and roll. For my first time West taught me how to screen three times in a roll . D-West was so patient on us and always correct us anytime we did the wrong thing.
I got to understand that basketball is a discipline game and we play accord to it rules.
I also gotta know basketball is about plays and it is being played in action. David West made it so clear to
us during his time with us that basketball is a vehicle and can take us to wherever we wanna go but we must create connections all over the world which is the fuel to fill our car(basketball talent) for us to travel wherever we wonna go. Mostly, I UPGRADED a new instinct to work extra on every aspect of my game and cridentially watch more videos .
Above; I ALSO MADE MY MIND TO STUDY MORE HARD AND DISCIPLINE MYSELF TO BE BALANCE IN MY CHRISTIAN LIFE, EDUCATION AND BASKETBALL CAREER.
In all we had 12 players who were lead by Coach Alfred to the event.
We are thankful to all who made this possible and especially to the Ghana Basketball Association for its invitation.
