Yes, its celebration among the children in Cape Coast as for the first time an under fourteen side has brought a basketball trophy to the city. That is just what HCI U14 Boys did at the El Wak Stadium in Accra. It was the semis finals and final day as the group stages and quarters were played a week before. In the first semi finals, HCI found themselves going against the defending champions, Great Lamptey Mills. The Lamptey Mills boys who were much bigger, stronger and taller tried to use their height advantage while HCI on the other hand used their speed and quickness to get to their opponents side while they played 2-3 close zone making the Lamptey Mills boys unable to drive to the rim. It was a hard fought one as both sides showed brilliant ball. The crowd was behind HCI. In the end, their speed and quickness give them the day beating the defending champions 15-13 in a sixteen minutes running time, two halves. In the second semi, Garrisons defeated GLISS setting up a showcase between they and HCI. The finals was highly charge as it looked like a Cape Coast vs Accra affairs. Both teams played excellent basketball and it was a ding dong affair in the first half as the boys played their heart out. Garrisons once again like Lamptey Mills tried using their height and body to bully the lads from the coast but they did not know that these kids had already been prepared for such and as their slogans goes, “Spartans,” they really played like true Spartans. In the second half it was a one sided affair as HCI took complete control of the game winning easily 25-16 and lifted the 2010 Milo Cup. There were also winners in the singing and dancing competitions and a lot of dignitaries where present including former wbc world champion the Professor, Azumah Nelson
