Health
Malaria is the number one killer of children under the age of five within Ghana. Malaria affects families’ everyday all throughout the country. Hoops Care International works at directly combating this disease through the implementation of many different programs. One of the programs that Hoops Care International facilitated was a Malaria Workshop in the city of Amanful for young mothers. During this workshop young mothers were invited to come and learn information about a variety of health topics, how to properly care for children and most importantly the vital steps of how to prevent malaria. At this event insecticide treated bed nets, food and other baby supplies were distributed. With the education of young mothers children lives will be saved when proper prevention steps are taken place. During the month of September, 2012 Hoops Care International launched a campaign “Save 1000 Children Lives at Risk from Malaria in Ghana”. This campaign will focus on gaining online contributions. Contributions are made for the Malaria campaign through the Global Giving website. These contributions will go towards the purchasing and distribution of insecticide treated bed nets, malaria medication, health care for young children, holding malaria workshops and holding health workshops within our partner schools. With the grassroots efforts at directly attacking malaria Hoops Care International hopes to see the impact this will have on the disease.
